Generally speaking, I thought it would be a shame to modify any of your beautiful captures in your travels, but I think this worked out pretty well! Way to go! :3 It's really mesmerizing on the rock face especially.
You can use a soft-edged eraser to make the effect less in some areas than in others, so you can get the exact effect you want over the whole picture, by modifying the layer.
The sand is a bit blown out, and I'm not sure if that's the effect or not, but the effect that's so nice over some of the picture is lost there, and that's too bad. It also gets patchy on the roof - it's my Opinion that it would look best if the effect got to be even over the whole image - you could probably bring the contrast down in those areas with a mask, and maybe that would do the trick.
--But I'm not the sort of person that even experiments with these things, so kudos!!! You wanted a critique, so I figured I'd put forth my two cents. Your images are so nicely done, I hope to see many more!! You have a very natural sense of composition!
